I did not start out on the path you would typically expect for a bookkeeping professional, but in an unexpected turn of events, I found my calling.

As a kid I loved counting up what I earned from my garage sales and lemonade stands. I was oddly excited to decide how much I would save, how much I would invest and how much I would spend. I even convinced my best friend to let me hold her money in a separate box under my bed as to help her develop healthier spending habits. That was me in middle school!

While I didn't immediately realize that my passion for finances could be a career, I continued to learn about budgeting, saving and investing throughout my college years. I majored in Hospitality Management and landed a job in hotel sales. I became a skilled salesperson but quickly realized what I enjoyed most were the numbers; analyzing, doing calculations and learning about revenue management.

When COVID-19 layoffs hit, I was shocked but I immediately got to work in a different way. I knew this was the time to decide how I could apply my skills in finance and analysis in a new field. That is when I found Bookkeeper Launch, a comprehensive program that taught me the foundations of accounting and the intricacies of bookkeeping inside the best accounting application for small business, QuickBooks Online. I found my calling because it all started to click; I could help small businesses be more successful doing what they love, while helping them manage what I love - finances. With that, I earned my certifications (Bookkeeper Launch and QuickBooks ProAdvisor) and created my business called Your Side Financial.
